Well I've got it!
One or two little things are a bit annoying about but it does go rather well! I managed just over 90 miles from £10 on the way home which isn't too bad either! Now I just need to save some pennies to make it look a bit less....'grandad' like. Appologies to the other Marea owners
One of the problems I've found is that I can't seem to find a comfortable driving position. Because the front doors are alot smaller than the Bravo, the door pillar is further forward, bringing the seat belt with it. As i'm tall(ish) i'm finding that i'm almost level with the pillar so the belt doesn't sit right. Maybe I could shorten my legs slightly.
Also, key goes in the boot lock and turns but doesn't open. It works with the boot release lever however. Apart from that all seems to be be in perfect working order.
You may be asking yourself 'why on earth would you buy a car like that at 22'. Well here is the car that inspired me to get it in that colour:
I know the HSV would run rings around it (literally!), but I aim to try and make it look similar to that but also keep it as subtle as possible! Would that be acceptable Rog?
Personally, I think you've made a great buy (not just because I alerted you to it !) as what you have is the basis for a really unique car. You already have a good engine that will surprise many, especially those who see the Marea as a "Grandad" car.
There are some really nicely modified Marea saloons out there. Just be subtle and discrete. A nice set of skirts, lowering kit, nothing too garish on the front, a subtle rear spoiler and then focus on the engine, doing some "proper" engine mods (calling Nico !!!)
Great buy and look forward to seeing you alongside my Marea at future shows
Well once it's been taxed, serviced inc. changing all belts, and MOT'd I can start a few little changes! Ohh it's going to be an expensive couple of months
It does look good the way it is Rog but what car did you have when you were 22?
Roberto, performance wise I shall eventually fit a nitrous kit from work giving me an extra 50bhp. It's great working for Earl's!
Thanks again mate for posting the ebay link! I owe you one!
Lovely car and colour, but i can't stand the blue interior! Had Fiat gone mad, like they did with the MK2 punto interiors. I actually thought the ELX came with foglights, but looking at some on ebay i guess not.
I personally wouldn't spend thousands on a car thats worth £1300. Afterall you'll never get the money back and selling a NOS'd Marea will be tricky... Just think some old grandad may press the button thinking its the cigeratte lighter and WHOOOSHH he's off. LOL
