I'm getting horrible whistling and engine noise through my speakers. Ive earthed the amp but obvoisly not properly. Wheres the best place to earth it? Ive done under the carpet in the boot where the rear lights are. Any ideas?? Thanks

Not always the earth!

anywhere is usually fine as long as you scrape a bit of paint off so its bare metal.

Have you got the power and phonos the same side?

no I have the phono cable on the other side of the car but I do have the remote cable and the front speaker cable running along each other near the power cable.

I had this and couldnt get rid of it if you manage it let us know what you did as wanna wire my speakers up to the amp again!

I had this, ended up selling the amp because of it, tried everything. It was down to the amp in the end, try it with a different amp.

if the noise changes pitch with the car revs its either your earth point or the fact you have ur speaker cables next to your power lead. You need to put your power and remote lead on one side of the car, and the phono and speaker cables on the other.
For an earth point try using one of the bolts for the bumper in the boot. Give it a good sanding to get a good contact area.
If this does't work then it could be another earthing issue, such as I can get a whine if my amp casing touhes any other metalwork, such as the rear of the seats, or the wheel arches. make sure its not touching anything and im sure by doing all this your whine will be gone
