e m light help

have noticed the engine managment light has been on for about 3 weeks and the car was cutting out now and again.
so found that there was a little air pipe that comes out of the rocker cover was broke so replaced it but the e m light is still on but think it has stopped cutting out {my partner uses car) have been told that if i disconnect the battery it will reset itself and learn after about a day is this true.

Engine management light needs to be reset at either a Fiat Dealership or a Auto Electrician with the relevant tools or if your cars compatible an EODB/ODBII ECU reader from Argos.

Disconnecting the battery resets the values stored in the ECU in relation to the air, fuel intake etc not any errors stored in the engine management system.

Ideally get the error codes read and get the problem fixed as that little air pipe may not be the original problem.

if you say its stalling,its normally the Lambda Sensor at fault..replacing this might stop that.
i had similar problem and all was well afterwards..
but could be anytin,best bet is to get it on a diag machine,mosr garages will do it for you or take it to fiat
