Been trying to download the E Learn data for my 2005 2.8JTD but as usual I find myself drowning in directories and zip files.
Am I barking up the wrong tree, should it really be so complicated

"Downloading & Burning 244/250 eLearn CD using Winzip

Make a Directory on your system & call it whatever, maybe Ducato (Note: not eLearn as that is created when installing the program) then download the 244 zip file (163MB) from here –
Once you have downloaded the zip file open the 244Ducato_elearn.zip or the X250.zip & extract the contents of the zip file to your newly created directory.
For the 244 In your directory you will see a Directory- “folder” called 244Ducato_eLearn. For X250 it will contain files/folders as listed below.
From one of my previous posts - the contents of which should look like this –
the folder contents should be as below with 5 folders (in red) plus 5 files in the root directory of the CD (the contents of the above eLearn ISO should look the same)"

So having printed it all out and tried to follow it I'm lost, but I cant even answere simple questions about the engine withouth the information .
Can anyone help I'm a quite young 79yr old computer user!

If you find it too much to use, there are several people on Forum who can offer advice re that engine.:)

Understood. Was your original question about extracting a zip file to save to your computer?

Windows 11?

The guide quoted above uses a program called WinZip to extract, but I don't think you need the WinZip program. Windows 11 can extract zip files without the need for third party software.

Does this video guide help?

Very grateful but my old computer still quite succesfully runs win7. Never did quite get my brain around winzip
Thanks for the suggestion. Just had a though, I do havea laptop that runs win10, is it included in that version?

Hey Mike, don’t stress! Just make a folder called Ducato, unzip the 244 or X250 file into it, and you’ll see the eLearn folder with the files and subfolders, then you can open it and start checking info without bothering with a CD.
??? "unzip the 244 or X250 file into it, and you’ll see the eLearn folder with the files and subfolders, then you can open it"
You see it all makes sense to you youngsters!
But not, yet, to me. Is there simple tutorial somewhere that might talk plain English?
Thanks for the suggestion

I am like you in my 70s, I still have win 7 on one old computer, win 10 on a tablet so I can use diagnostic scan tools, but I actually use Linux Cinnamon 22.3 as I got fed up with Windows.
I found this from a search on Google:-
unzipping a file using win 7.

To unzip a single file or folder, open the zipped folder, then drag the file or folder from the zipped folder to a new location. To unzip all the contents of the zipped folder, press and hold (or right-click) the folder, select Extract All..., and then follow the instructions.
Also this:-

How to open a zip file without WinZip in Windows 7?
Using WinRAR
  1. Download and install WinRAR. According to Oppido, you can use WinRAR to open “. ...
  2. Open File Explorer or Finder and navigate to the ZIP file. ...
  3. Right-click or control-click the ZIP file. ...
  4. Hover over WinRAR. ...
  5. Click Extract files…. ...
  6. Select where you want to extract the files. ...
  7. Click OK.

If your computer has a CD drive, then there is the alternative option of buying a CD. Example here, That is what I did. long before I joined this forum. Subsequently our geekish son mounted the contents of the CD as a virtual drive on my laptop. Couple this with an upgrade to an SSD, and it is hard to choose between online, and computer based versions for speed of access.

Separately I have processed most of the wiring diagrams, and short extracts into pdf files that I hold on the SSD for quick access.

This post contains eBay links which may earn a commission at no additional cost to you.

It looks like the option to extract zip files without third party software is possibly also on Windows 7, and Windows 10
Does this work for you?

I cannot compete with the advice already given, but for encouragement and general interest, I have attached two extracts from the description of the fuel system contained in eLearn.
You probably have the 2.8jtd with flame starter, and without EGR, as this appears to be the most common version. The files are from my library of extracts, and I have left out long tracts of version specific diagrams, which are of poor definition, and difficult to read.
