My car went into Neutral just after I rurned into road, manually put in 1st gear and drove about 10yards and went into neutral again. Had message on dash saying gear not available, and transmission fault, see hand book
My local garage has looked at it and says the ecu needs replacing and then setting up which only a dealer can do?
Any thoughts on this as I have been told, change oil, take battery off over night?..... I'm at the mercy of the fiat dealer.

Change garages, ECU's very rarely fail like that.

End of line calibration can be completed by main dealer, or yourself using MES software.

Check Pump is operating, and that the CS Speed Fluid reservoir is at the max marker.

Also look at getting the fault code read to find out what faults the ECU is logging.
