I have Accidently pinched and earthed the red wire that connects to all the plug coils. the wire burnt through and seperated.

I have tried all obvious remedies ie main fuses. and have now changed the ECU ,the ecu keycode module, the red key crystal. the Inertia swith is in the down position I dont know wether it should be up or down but can not see any way change it, I have read that others have accdently kocked it and car will not start till its reset, but as I say I can't find any reset device.

The replcement ECU I fitted although not new was removed from a working Marea same with ecucode box .both were changed as the red wire terminated at them.

Is there any pocedure to go through in changing ecu etc. ?

All work has been done without battery connected

Any help wopuld be appreciated

which engine?

the only wire that is common to all coils is the earth, then you have either 2, 4 or 5 LT signal wires depending on model.

you need to figure out what the wire is really for and where it goes, and replace that entire wire, and test carefully everything in its circuit including all connectors. you also need to check the condition of the main earth strap (possibly melted as well) and the battery (possibly damaged due to shorting)

Thanks for reply to my problem.and your helpful ideas.

Unfortunatly the wire goes into a loom down the back of the engine and my hand won't fit also cant' see it in Manual, would I be right to assume it goes through the bulkhead ?

Also i found fsd on my meter from the wire to earth although its a red wire. can a red wire be earth.

Battery OK.

cheers Ian

none of the wires that connect to the coils and ecu will go through the bulkhead, or anywhere near it, nor the codebox, so i'm confused about which wire you have damaged. can you explain which pin on the ecu connector and coilpack connector(s) this wire goes to?

which engine is it?
