Technical Ducato's key code card

Hi,

Do anybody knows what electronic and mechanical codes stands for?

If are looking for a new key it has to be coded but for doing this, do you need both codes?

I guess the electronic code is for SECURITY code but what is the mechanical for?

Nay hints?

Quote from the 244 Ducato owners manual -
The code card bears the following:
A. the electronic code to be used for emergency starting.
(which apparently can only be used on the petrol versions)
(Emergency startup cannot be performed on versions with a diesel engine - contact a Fiat Dealership)
B. the mechanical key code to be given to the Fiat Dealership when ordering duplicate keys.

mechanical key number is if you have no keys...if locks have been previously changed and register not informed....your feck*d

Mechanical code is to cut the blade of the key, electronic code is required to log into the ecu in order to program the keys to the vehicle.
