Hello, I have a 2008 250 Ducato and only one key for it. Luckily the key has remote control. I have also PSA Lexia&PP200&DiagBox tester & software and it seems that it is possible to program keys with this tester to this vehicle.

Now next I need a new remote-control key but it seems that there are not any cheap copies around because my present key looks like this:

So the question is: Can a modern-model key like this
FIAT11-250x250.jpg

be programmed to my car?

There seems to be china -replicas of the modern model plenty available so
thats the reason why I'm interested..

Does anyone know?

Cheers from Finland!

Interesting question. In the old days you needed a soldering iron (and magnifying glass) to program a remote; I did that once for my Mercedes.
For the Chinese replicas to have a chance on the market they must be equipped with a tiny receiver to read and duplicate the code of the original key, just like universal radio/TV remote controllers.

Have you found any offers on Ebay?

Lexia can only add keys to your van. The key has to be preprogrammed.

To do that you need to remove the BSI unit from the van, read the contents of the 95c1060 EEPROM inside with an EEPROM reader, calculate the key code and program the a blank transponder using for example TMPRO2 + Software module 45.

Then you can add the key to the van with Lexia. Unless you plan on making 3+ keys it will be cheaper to order one from Fiat or call a proper autolocksmith.
