Hi everyone. I am new here.
My Ducato 3.0 2009 x250 is rattling on cold start.
The vehicle has 470000km on it, and I suspect that the rattle is from the timing chain. I also get a creaking sound when I blip the throttle or when the gears change (comfortmatic)
I have purchased the timing chain kit (BGA), but I am yet to purchase seals and the centrifugal filter.
The troubling part is that it appears that this is an engine out job. Can someone who has done it please confirm. What approach did you use, or would you suggest to pull the motor. I have most common tools and a cherry picker/engine crane. I am just a little overwhelmed, and not sure about the approach. I am also fairly new to Fiat. Is there a logical junction at which to disconnect the main engine harness?
Once the engine is off, I suspect that the only tool I am missing is for locking the power steering pump to get the gear off. I will try to get that. The job itself seems pretty straightforward. Is there sufficient room to drop the top chain between the cutout in the head, as one section isn't removal.
If anyone has pictures or videos of this job being done, I will be highly appreciative.
Many thanks
