Hello

My AC is out of action and I don’t intend to tackle that until later in the year as I don’t have the time and any I do have will be out enjoying the van…..so in the meantime I’m going to fit some deflectors so we can roll with the side windows down.

I’m looking for end user opinions, pros & cons, for any of the side window deflectors on the market for the X250 Ducato 2006 on (my van is a 2008 panel van conversion camper) I can see there are two main designs, clip into the window seal recess or stick externally to the door frame - what have you got fitted and how do they perform? what are the bad bits about them? lettuce snow your thoughts….

I love my wind deflectors - I would rather do without the air conditioning than them. Mine fit inside the window channel - got them off ebay from Poland - 5 minute job to fit and remove when you have done them before - just lubricate the window channel with silicone oil spray or candle wax and the motor has no problem winding them up and down. Had them on the X2/50 for ten years and no motor problems, now transferred them to the X2/90 and had them for 4 years no problems. Can drive at speed with the window open and no draughts because it draws the air out. I noticed this when my self build van was new because I had creosoted the floorboard and put lino over - the fumes from the creosote went down through the holes in the floor - until I drove at speed with the wind deflectors open and it sucked the creosote fumes up into the cab!!
Another advantage can leave the window partly open for ventilation without the rain coming in - whether stationary or not
Strongly Recommended.
PS: reduces wind noise when driving with the window down

Our IH PVC came without aircon. I fitted Clima deflectors many years ago. I was initially concerned about the extra friction overloading the window motors. Like Reg 65, I lubricate the guides with silicone spray and no problems to date The advantages are as he describes. Not having aircon makes cam belt changes easier, or cheaper, depending on whether DIY, or not.
