Ducato side door problem

I have a 2.8 Ducato LWB 1999, converted to motor home On four occasions the sliding side door has stuck in the closed position. Each time I have removed the top and bottom guides from the front of the door to disengage it, then replaced the guides, aligning the door for sweetest closing with the minimum of force. Every time it is the rear top latch which does not release correctly. I have replaced the mechanism once, but could see no difference between the old and new fittings. Does anyone know the secret of setting up these doors?
