Technical Ducato running problem

Hi can anyone help, I've got a ducato 2.2 100 multijet with intermittent running problems, goes in to limp mode, will not Go over 2500 revs, engine management light come on and off. Replaced the air flow neater and egr valve. Been told it could be the particulate filter. Don't know if and where it is. Can any one throw any light on this . Thanks ron

Hi Ron,

DPF - Diesel Particulate filter,
it's basically another silencer in the middle of exhaust that gets MEGA HOT ,
to burn off the soot particles

it uses ECU driven over-fuelling to get so HOT,
when you've had an oil change you have to get certain oil life , etc parameters reset..
this is often missed by dealer servicing:bang:

the engines controls get in a knot..and it'll behave badly.. if not dangerously..,

getting the engine ECU interrogated is the best course of action..
in the meantime , check the oil level hasn't climbed too high

hi Charlie. thanks for the reply. the problem comes and goes been driving the van today with out any problems. would changing the dpf(1st box after the cat) do any good or get it cleaned either by fuel supplement or strip down clean. when it plays up some time the engine management light stays off. cheers ron
