Hello, new to forum and hope you can help me please. Have a motorhome with 2002 ducato 2.8jtd motor.
Have intermittent fault, always the worst, when starting up sometimes revs at 1500-2000 revs and can do nothing about it. Also it will be perfect and then suddenly rev at 1500plus until it decides to revert to normal tickover or running. Had a look at wiring to see if a problem but not seen anything. Only has 3 pin diagnostics so don't think it will show anything. Anyone any ideas, maybe a sensor somewhere, not sure if anyone has had this problem.
Thanks
Keith

3 pin diagnostics is fine you just need an adapter cable for a couple of £ on ebay its the same ecu as the facelift model. If its not going to limp mode and the fault lights not on then accellerator potentiometer is a suspect.

Thanks for that, have had same sort of info from others, garage I use are less than convinced of potentiometer problem but I think it may be too. Sounds like it's going to be expensive!

Other possibilites are regulator sticking etc. but it should go to limp mode when actual pressure departs drastically requested. Its very easy to log it with multiecuscan ,the cable plus adapter would be less than £20 delivered. Accelerator pedal isn't uncommon failure. I wouldnt change it without seeing it in diagnostics. Secondhand pedal on eBay is cheap.
