Could anyone tell me mpg I should be getting from an Autoroller with a 1.9JTD unit. thanks

1.9td probably 22-24 mpg
2.0 jtd a little bit better 22-26 mpg it's very dependant on your driving style. This is from my experience of suffering these engines in two smallish coach built vans

That agrees pretty well with a brim-to-brim measurement on my 1.9TD Ducato 10-based motorcaravan. I was pretty shocked to find it so low. I guess the problem is it's so gutless that you have to 'give it some welly' just to avoid frustrating other drivers and that makes it drink fuel. Counter-intuitively a bigger engine would likely give a better mpg figure (and a more relaxed driving experience).

Actually I'd have preferred the 2 litre petrol and I wouldn't mind betting it's mpg would be no worse.

There are lots of factors that will affect the mpg you achieve with your Mh. If you drive everywhere fully ladden into headwinds and the pedal on the floor - your mpg will be awful.

I drive a 2.8JTD /3500kg /6.5M - Motorhome and I have found that keeping to 55mph on the motorways, fuel 50% full, no waste water on board and max 20 litres of fresh water, I can achieve 25-33mpg. But if I use the cab aircon the mpg will drop by 10%. In the early days of owning the vehicle I use to drive fully ladden - fresh, waste and fuel tanks full. I was getting 18mpg I had to change my driving style and reduce the on the road load to achieve better figures. Correct tyre pressures are also important.

Further to my earlier reply. I've a 2.3jtd Trigano Tribute van based MH now 60 to 65 mph returns 38-32 mph BRILLIANT! The engine pulls like a train with very good mpg.

On our first tank load our 2.0 jtd 2003 max weight 3400 we got 26 mpg, This is with the Mobilvetta Driver 52.Only had it since 20/5 so far lack of power on steep hills is slight problem.

Took my 1.9 Autoroller to France last year. Did about 2000 miles in all. Made a calculation when I got back about mpg as I wanted to know myself what it did. Driving covered motorways at about 60mph and ordinary roads at lesser speeds. Worked out that average was 23mpg so anything between 22-25 depending on driving style and conditions seems about right.

I have a 1997 Hymermobil on a 2.5tdi Ducato, last year when I 1st bought it I got about 27-28mpg. Went to Germany & France and got about 30-31 on average.

This year I put Continental vanco campers on, fitted cruise control, put Synthetic oil in & drove to Italy & back (through the old roads in the Alps not Autostrasa etc) the van was fully laden including 1/2 tank of clean water (to start later in the waste water) & 2 11kg gas. The overall average was 32.8mpg. Surprisingly the stage through the Alps low gears etc returned just under 38mpg.

What dragged it down was the standing stop start on the M25, & a couple of long delays on the A1 & A22 in Italy otherwise I think I would have got nearer 34mpg overall.

Whenever I buy a new vehicle I fill it full, till I literally can see the fuel at the rim of the nozzle, then I set the speedo to zero, drive about 200 miles, fill her back up (right to the brim again) then divide the cost of the fuel by the a mount of miles you have done. This gives a very accurate figure. Driving around town will be much more expensive than straight runs though. Hope this helps.
