I wonder if could any one help please? my 2004 Ducato s brake load compensator actuator is rattling as I drive. I wonder if there is a spring missing? I fitted a clip to hold it onto the arm of the compensator, that has improved it, but not stopped it when going over rough roads.

I don't know specifically about yours , but many brake compensators rattle when vehicle is unloaded as the connecting rod or spring on some only starts to load the compensator as it is pushed down, so in effect the rear brakes are doing very little at that point.
Some have a plastic liner that sits around the hole the rod or spring works on which helps keep the rattle down.

Thanks for that Mike, it eases my mind as I have seen the price of a new compensator, of course it has to be the most expensive Bosch one. I will remove the connecting rod this morning and see if I can make or fit a new sleeve. The man at the test centre didn't like it rattling so I must do something with it.

It may be possible to adjust the tension arm slightly so brake compensator comes in a little earlier.
Is this on an empty van as most campers are overloaded already so compensator starting to operate under tension.
Many years ago I had an empty Nissan Cabstar pick up at Mot Test Centre, it would have failed as no braking effort to the rear brakes, tester let me adjust which got brake readings and a pass, but afterwards I had to readjust it as it caused the rear wheels to lock up early with empty vehicle.

Thanks for that Mike I will follow your advise and adjust to full on for the Re test; Fingers crossed
