Hi all, I have a 2012 Ducato 3.0 (Motorhome) and I’m hoping for some help or guidance. Firstly my dash says check glow plugs along with the glow plug coil on, when I code read the only fault is P053a Crank case heater, also recently I lost my aux belt and since replaced I have check power steering on my dash but no fault codes and the vans steering seems fine. I have done a few thousand miles with the light on and all seems good it is just annoying me and am planning on driving in Europe later in the year.

Can you not get the codes deleted and see what happens then?

Why not check the heated crankcase heated vent valve and replace it if it is faulty? If it's faulty and replaced and wiring ok you should be able to clear the code p053a.

Plus check the glow plugs and glow plug controller and it's fuses-for cause of flashing glow plug light.

Hi

On earlier vans the same 15 Amp fuse (F11, Electonic Injection Secondary Services) supplies the Crankase vapour heater, the Glow plug controller and several other items. The faults may therefore be connected by sharing a fuse, so I recommend you check this first.

Personally, I don't like warning lights without knowing why they are on, and would rather fix the problem than drive around crossing my fingers and trusting things won't get worse.

Thanks for the information, unfortunately the fuse was fine so back to the drawing board for me.

Check the component you are getting the code for and it's wiring, The vent valve with built in electrical heating element.

Check each glow plug.
