Hi all, i have just bought a new 2019/2020 Ducato motorhome. I notice that my headlights are not the LED version DRL.

I was looking to buy a set of new headlamps for it which had the led in, but i have read its not just a matter of fitting them, and they would work.

Has anyone managed to do this modification? Does anyone have any tips?

Thank you
Roy

I think your only option is AlfaOBD diagnostic software for android and windows, which has a facility to reprogram the body computer to LED DRL logic. Fiat will tell you that you need a new body computer at £1000 plus.

Although I have AlfaOBD, I haven't tried that function, and previous posters who have been pointed towards it after asking a similar question have not to my knowledge come back to the forum to confirm whether it works.

I've managed to enable the option to toggle DRL's from the dashboard menu using AlfaOBD, but never tried changing the DRL bulb type.

I think they might work just by plugging them in but you will probably get an error message saying DRL bulbs are out because LED's draw less current...

I've used AlfaOBD to reprogram the uConnect radio and reconfigure the number of speakers in the vehicle. It worked as intended, and I've also seen reports from US users that they could reprogram the lighting logic to fit LED DRL/headlamps in their RAM pickups.

So I have no reason to think that it won't work. It's just that no-one has came back here to confirm it.

Apparently just fitting the LED DRL lamps causes them to constantly flicker or flash on and off according to posts I have seen, hence the requirement for the BCM to know which lamps it is operating.
