Hi vans been running great, then suddenly last Friday, as we were going away for the weekend, got round the corner from our house, my wife went into a shop, and van wouldn't start again. Its turning over but not firing, so we got the AA out, who couldn't do anything, they thought fuel pump/ignition problem, so they towed us back home. Ive since seen 3 different mechanics and 3 auto electrictions, who all say its a problem they cant solve you have to go to the main dealer, who will charge me, more than the vans worth to fix. I can start the van using the emergency start procedure, and have had thekey checked, and that's ok. I have already had, when I 1st got the van, new injectors, starter motor, new battery, so I think its an immobiliser problem. everyone ive spoke to says it can't be disabled/bypassed, but iv'e read on this forum there's a way of doing it, but nobody will take the job on.

Everyones an expert these days if they can't do it they say it can't be done.


The data in the immobiliser unit can become corrupt or out of sync with the key, usually trying to start with a low battery.

Immobiliser can be disabled in the ecu, or the immobiliser can be fixed by reprogramming the epprom in the immobiliser unit.


The cheapest solution for an old van might we swap the ecu, immobiliser and chips from the keys of a scrap van. They sell on ebay for about £120. Try yorkshire van breakers.
 
thanks for the reply, if i can pick up an ECU unit with keys and barrel, is it just a straight swap over, or do you still have to get it all reprogrammed/coded as i'm sure the auto electricians, and auto locksmiths, ive spoken to have said no, you cant just do that ?
