Technical Ducato 2.8jtd starting problem

Hi all. newbie here. As the thread topic says i am having problems starting my ducato 2.8 jtd. The code light is going off when the key is turned to mar but when i turn the key to start position i can hear the relay under the glove box clicking but nothing else is happening ive tried jump leads without any joy. Any suggestions....

Check for power to the switch terminal (small wire) on the starter solenoid while someone holds the key in start. If ok, you may have a faulty starter. Check the main cables are clean and tight. Earth is usually at the gearbox end of starter. MAKE SURE VEHICLE IS IN NEUTRAL. Try bridging this small terminal directly to the main positive cable with a small wire or screwdriver. The starter should work. If it works from here you have a wiring fault. Is it auto or manual?
