Technical Ducato 2.8jtd 4 speed auto box

Hi

Nearly had a disaster in that the gear selector stuck in P and no amount of jiggling it up and down moved it at all .

After about 5 mins on a very busy road it decided to work and away we went .

Any clues and can anyone advise on the method of selection as the box itself is working fine.

Have a look at the following post, it has a PDF Training manual for your ZF4-HP20 auto transmission attached - might give you an idea how things work, not sure if it has the gear selector etc!

First thing I would check is the brake light switch operation , but remember just because the brake lights operate it doesn't mean the switch is ok as there may be more than one circuit on the switch .

+1 not even worth cleaning it just chuck in a new one.
