hi there I am new to the forum and am hoping somebody out there can help me
I am on my way home from france at the moment and will be waiting for my motorhome to be returned later on by recovery truck.
only a 120miles in to france 1to 4 gears started to make a rattling noise and 5th a rattling/grinding which was unusable.
when taken to a french garage they drove it up the road and back and said it needed a new gearbox at a total cost of 4500euros.
as you can imagine I saked my breakdown cover to get myself and motorhome back home.
any info on this problem would be grateful thanks for time to red my post

What a bummer. If it is any consolation this year I only got as far as Dover docks before the clutch cover/pressure plate failed on my Croma (just 5 years & 45k miles old).

Regarding your gearbox then it is difficult to say. As it is a five speed box (as opposed to six) then it is probably a Fiat box as opposed to a GM box where bearings are known to fail. Still could be bearing failure or maybe the box has run dry of oil.

Probably worth going over to the Ducato section and poke around / ask there.
