Hi all, I've been stripping down parts of the dash on my 2.5D campervan.
After my problem with the cig. lighter shorting I am trying to trace the rest of the wire which was on it.
The problem is access. I have 2 red wires, (these are burnt out, they are inside a red & white sheath) going down the loom towards the passenger door or heater, anyone know where they come out at?
It may have been easier to find had I removed the dash completely, but I had visions of trying to get hoses etc back on the demisters and chickened out lol.

I keep on being logged off for some reason.
Hi Gareth thanks for the reply, I'm having trouble with this site today, I keep getting a message saying it is a bogus site collecting information, I replied to you then lost it all.
Anyway, yes they do go behind the fusebox.
I have rewired them, the main one was burned right up to the end, the other not too bad so wired it into the replacement wire, I dont know where it actually goes to, will still be conected wherever and the other I have left unconnected until I fit another lighter.

There is another red wire of lesser gauge it fits into the fan section in the fuse box.
This wire is fitted 2nd spade in from the front of the dash or 4th in from inside the glove box, but I don't know where the other end goes because it came out when I moved the box.
Until it came out the sidelights were working, I tried different places but no joy.
I hope I have managed to make all this understandable, thanks again for responding.

Working from the right the first 3 or 4 fuses are bridged together & all go live with the ignition on , don't know if that helps?
The red wire, you have it connected to the fuse box but the other end is loose? Is that what you're saying?
It'll connect to the side light switch I should think.
Radio aerial connected?

Hi Gareth, thanks for that it is useful.
Yes the thicker red wire is loose, it's the one that will go to the lighter.
I'll go and have another go at connecting the short wire, I think it is a loop if that's the right name for it.
There was a 30amp fuse in instead of a 15amp, no wonder it did'nt blow.

Yeah loop or bridge, my fuse box is broken so I've bridged all 3/4 fuses with wires ;)
That headlight fault? Is the bulb in the right way up ????

Hi Gareth, I did wonder about the position of the light bulb but assumed it would only fit one way.
Update: I now have main beam on both lamps but no dipped on either lamp.
The sidelights are now working when ignition is on.
I could do with someone posting a photo of their fusebox, so I can see where each wire goes, I bought a russek? manual but the wiring diagrams are unreadable, copy printed or photocopied but I thought it would be better than nothing.
I'll put another post up about the glovebox and see if I get any info.
Cheers
Gerry
I am desparate to find out how to remove the glovebox, I have taken all screws out and the 2 bolts just above the relays, but it will not budge.

Side lights working with ignition on is correct.
The dip / main relays are top left of the hole in the fuse box.
Put your finger on them to see if they both click as you work the switch.
If you can get them out swap them over & see if you now only have dipped lights ;)
DO YOU HAVE A WIRING DIAGRAM FOR IT?
I can send you one if you don't ;)

Hi Gareth, thanks for the info, I don't have a wiring diagram for it and would like to take up your offer of one, that will be fantastic.
Gerry
P.S. I'll go and check the relays for clicking.
