Hi there, I currently have a 2011 Ducato 2.3/130 hp motorhome and it runs very well, with good fuel consumption. But I am considering buying another motorhome or campervan, Ducato 150 or even 180 HP. My question - do these higher powered versions have the same fuel economy as a 2.3 and are they a preferable choice for a 3.5 ton motorhome?

Don't get confused. The euro 4 had two variants the 2.3 130 and the 3l 160. At euro 5 the 3l engine was dropped and the 130 150 and 180 were all 2.3. At euro 6d I think they became 2.3 120 140 and 180 but there is also a 2.2engine . I find the 2.3 150 euro 6b a good engine and get about 26 mpg on my 3500kg motorhome. PS: I tried a 2.3 130 euro 5 and it was flat as a pancake and underpowered.

I have a 2017 Ducato Swift Escape 2.3 130bhp. I have had this tweeked to 170bhp for economy purposes. Great going up hills.

Mine is 2011, I am not sure if I can get that tweak on my van computer. I am getting a regular 10L/100 kms with standard settings and it is a bit overweight with cargo, probably around 3,800 kg.

So if I can get better, I might try it. Do you know what your fuel consumption is?

I can usually return 30/32 maybe more at 60/70 on the motorway.

I think your most reliable guide is the manufacturers figures, which tend to give higher fuel consumption for higher powered engines and automatic gearboxes.
