Hi all , just got a call from a mate , he has a 1998 Tdi 2.5 Ducato , low mileage , well serviced etc , he left it ticking over yesterday to charge the battery , then when he went to drive away , it took off like a rocket , racing up , obviously breathing in some oil . It left a fog of smoke after it , and wouldn't stop with the key ,hence us knowing it was running on oil . After the dust settled , and the heart rate came back to normal , he restarted it and took it for a drive , and it drove normally , no fog of smoke .
Any ideas? Sounds like turbo seals , but it's driving normally now? And he often leaves it ticking over a while before driving , with never a problem before .
It's running on 10w0 semi synth oil btw .
