When I park my duallogic 1.4 500 i used to put neutral and then the handbrake. I then noticed one day when idling that if you leave the car in gear and turn the engine off, the car seems to be in what a normal automatic would call Park mode. I parked the car without the handbrake in gear and it wouldnt move at all. I checked the handbook and it says when parking leave the car in gear, not in neutral. I do this now, but I dont use the handbrake as the car already seems braked and doesnt budge if pushed.

Do other duallogic users park with the handbrake on or not?

Yes I do use the handbrake! That is what it is there for. I also use the steering wheel to go round corners rather than getting out and pushing the front wheels.

Why on earth would you choose not to use a handbrake?

PS You must not leave it in neutral when you switch off - you always leave it either in forward/drive or reverse. Suggest you RTM!

Our cinquecento cabrio is only lightly used (<1700 miles in a year!) and parked on a level floor in a garage. I leave it in reverse with the h/brake off so the drums don't stick on, but in regular use I always use the h/brake as well.

Well to be honest on level surfaces i just leave the car in neutral and a bit of handbrake. on hills i leave it in gear with no handbrake. so far so good!

Hello, i'm new on this forum and i'm sorry if i post in the wrong place but i wanted to ask about the dualogic. I have a 6 speed manual Fiat 500 and i want a new one with Dualogic gearbox, but i want to be sure before i buy it. So i want to ask those who have a dualogic, how smooth is the gear shifting, is it like a Tiptronic or DSG, and does the car starts to leave when you lift your foot of the brake pedal? Thanks !

Mine is a lot smoother now it is run in. The great thing is you can so easily override and go "manual" so you can shift earlier or later if the mood takes you.

There is NO creep though (what you mean by "starts to leave" I think) and it will also roll back, unlike a traditional auto.

The economy is not damaged by the dualogic unlike an ordinary auto too, incidentally.

thanks for the reply ! i'm looking now at some dealers to see if they have a dualogic for a test-drive

I was about to recommend my local dealer until I noticed you are in Romania....

no problem :), i would like to buy a 500 from UK but i can't because of the position of the steering wheel :( i just visited the UK website and saw that the prices are about the same in Romania but in UK you have some editions that we don't, like the 500 blackjack and twin air, and also some extra options in the configurator. Now i'm very interested in the blackjack model, i'll just have to wait and see if it's going to come in Romania, i'm sorry if i am off topic :)
