I test drove a Dualogic 1.2 today and have to say I was surprisingly very impressed, the changes were very smooth and acceptable and the whole experience seemed very natural after my Merc, manual mode was fun too! One thing I noticed was that it dident have SS, is SS not standard on DL cars?? I'm about to order an S TA and now the i'm thinking about the DL as I do a lot of rush hour commuting and have been driving autos for about 10 years, quite fancy the steering wheel paddles. Has anyone got a TA Dualogic? Does the DL lose some of the fun factor of the TA?? How do we feel about the long term reliability of the DL?

Just taken delivery of a 1.2 Dualogic 500s with paddles.
I think the TA is best driven manually so might loose some of its fun
I thought all now have stop start.
Traded down from an SLK and can honestly say its great.
The paddles are superb and work when in auto or manual mode and the stop start is great and if you don't want to activate just don't press the brake medal too hard.
Any questions please ask

It depends on personal preference as to how much fun you can have with a manual or DL on the twinair. I find the manual to be more fun in the TA but I'm sure you can have comparable fun with the DL.

I love my TwinAir Dualogic, and from what I've read most Dualogic owners here feel the same.

I still haven't used the paddles but they are always an option if you like having more control. I'm perfectly content leaving the gearbox in full automatic mode.

As for long-term reliability, from my general reading it seems as long as you maintain and service the car properly, it shouldn't be a problem. You do read about the occasional Dualogic gearbox problem on forums, but I'm not sure what kind of service history/running life those cars have had.

Are you sure they work in auto mode? I remember trying this and the paddles didn't do anything. I looked it up in the Dualogic supplement manual and it doesn't elaborate. The gear lever definitely works in both auto and manual which is very handy.

Paddles do work in Auto mode, same as gear lever does.
I drive in auto round town and then when the 30mph zone ends. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . (y)

Thanks, I will give the paddles another try next time! I suspect I was trying to press them the wrong way...

I've no issues really with the operation of DL, I'm mostly concerned with the reliability - will it break my heart in years to come? Anyone out there running a DL longterm??
How long is DL covered for under the 5 year warranty? I know the actual box and clutch are standard 500 but it's the actuators etc that would be more of a concern.
