General drop links

Had the car MOT done today, it passed but they advised I would need the drop links done soon ( they have een knocking a bit). So decided to have a crack at em this afternoon.
It worked a treat, no knocking now and ride a lot nicer. Total cost £33 a job well worth doing.
Used the guide for info and it was wel usful. Only pain bit was having to nip to the local HALFRAUDS FOR A 16MM cmbination spanner.

Argo, if I could get my Stilo back I would. That's not to say there's anything wrong with the Megane though. It's a nice drive, very quiet, 40MPG and very comfortable. The brakes are a world away from the Stilo's though, neck jarring at times. I did have to go to the dealers - to get a wheel cap removal tool, there wasn't one with it when I got it. In all it's a nice car just not the Stilo.

I will hang around here as there seems to be quite a few new owners looking for advice.

hang on, my dads got a megane, its slow, thirsty and the brakes are rubbish.

Its a 55 plate and he's had it since new. This car put me off meganes as its more basic than the active stilo, yet its is one of the high specced cars.

Almost got a "Champagne" coloured (resembled another description in my opinion ) 1.4 Megane 3 door instead of the Stilo. It looked ok, apart from the colour of course, but I just thought the Stilo looked better. Plus, it cost more at the time and looked rougher. Hell, they almost tried to palm a black 1.2 51-plate Clio onto me. Smaller than the old Punto and more than a little dodgy looking.

The Stilo was the best car in the Fiat/Alfa dealership on the day. That said, wouldn't have minded the blue IS200 or Fabia VRs on the front forecourt, but couldn't for obvious reasons

Having had two Stilo's I can categorically state the brakes on my 07 Megane are far better than either.

It's slower than my JTD by some margin but easily as quick as my 1.6 was. Give me basic everytime, the less electronics the less to go wrong, regardless of manufacturer.

We bought a 04reg 1.6 megane expression (6 months old at the time) It was very nippy, but awful, breath on the brakes and you were stopped, touch the accelerator and the revs would fly round, making smooth set offs difficult. Not to mention it looked to have been in an accident and badly repaired, interior was falling to bits and it was more basic than we had wanted after the dealer sold the one we wanted while we were there!

Needless to say we had it 2 weeks before it got traded in to the same renault dealer we bought it from for a new scenic diesel.

Is your megane a diesel? We had a 1.9DCI Scenic after that, it woudleeasily get 55MPG, fantastic engine!

The stilo has more space then the megane and better kit too.
