well, not long got back in! im knackered and my ears heart.
me and my mate (who was in a punto 1.2!) started off at about 12:30pm this morning. its was a bit of a shake down for both of our cars as we plan to do a long drive across France and to Germany.

i also wanted to what he was like as a driver as he has been learning for years and only past his test 3 months ago
he drives beyond his capability's, and the capability of his car. he fccked up at a island took it to fast in the wrong lane and ended up bouncing of the island. i have no idear was he was doing, or what he think he was doing
needless to say i was not impressed and now considering if i trust him to drive that far.

any how after that little insadent he calmed down. we were going cross country on a painstakingly planned route i had spent most of yesterday night planning

we came around a corner to see a plume of smoke, so we stopped and could do nothing but watch, the fire service had been called, no one was in danger

we had to take a different route as the road was knackered and the tarmac melted...it was amazing just how fast it went up! the fuel tank failed far before the car was really on fire, and next the tyres went pop
not nice :S

my mate missed the turning and then the second turning after i flashed him, phoned him. i gave up and turned around and got on the B4391

this is the route i took (i dont think it was exact as sat nav decided different on occasion

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=sy43hx&daddr=B4391+to:Lon+Y+Domen+to:borth&hl=en&geocode=%3BFXiRJQMd5KjN_w%3BFaZcJwMd2iDJ_w%3B&mra=ls&sll=52.698725,-3.416325&sspn=0.853864,2.471924&ie=UTF8&ll=52.689702,-3.15033&spn=0.854026,2.471924&z=9

the road was great, the scenery was stunning, roads were clear and only a little damp (bar snow on one shaded corner)

once i got of the b4391 i took a route from baller to mach which was epic in its self

and on this road was were i came in to contact with some one who was intent on killing them selfs and there family.
driving down to wards a huge lake, wall on the left of me, steep drop to the right. i came around a sweeping left hander (60mph road) at about 40-50 i was then confronted buy a car on my side of the road, attempting to overtake a line of 6 cars, up a hill

i shat it and berried the the break peddle in to the floor. i had stoped far before this bloke had but there was no were for him to go and he must have been doing 60. all i saw was tyer smoke and him forcing the cars he was overtaking on to what little virge there was

lucky for me, i saw him before he saw me, and reacted a dam sight faster. no damage was done to any one's car

i pulled over and took a breather at this point to settle my nerves

some photos of the area around the laybuy

we had a nice meal at here and a walk on the beach

a great day bar the minor problems, the car stood up well and only burnet around £20 of fuel (i take it easy :D)

its developed 2 new squeaks! and at the end of the month will have to go back to joes to get the vis diagram replaced

i recomed the road to any one who wants a stunning drive

when my car's bak on the road,i need to go on a roadtrip like around wales or around the lake district :)

Driving on such roads can be dangerous as the stunning scenery can and will entice your eyes off the road!

Having been living in rural North Wales all of my 24 years, and having driven on these great roads for a good 6 years, I never get bored!

I love going for a blast now and then, it's a totally different kettle o fish when one is used to town and city driving, not that you are, just in general I mean!

Nice Post!

Awesome pics and looks like an even better drive! i might have to try this route out as i only live a little ways from shrewsbury

You had some fun that day mate! Glad you got there safe. Was nice to see the photos, particularly the one of Aber, i properly miss it!

The whole of Wales has excellent driving along the Pembrokeshire coast, central Wales Llandrindod Wells west dropping down into Aberystwyth over the Cambrian Mountains or lake Vernwy up to lake Bala or from Llangollen up the A5 to Bangor past Snowdon. Infact Shrewsbury to Bangor on the A5 on a quiet clear day is one of the best drives in the UK part may be from driving around the Scottish highlands or the Antrim coast. Better still drive up to Holyhead take the ferry to Dun Laoghaire and drive form Dublin up to Belfast then up and round the Antrim coast past Rathlin Island where Marconi made his first broadcast past the Giant's not so Giant Causeway down into Derry. Comin back take the B47 from Newtonstewart through the Sperrin Mountains really hills to Tobermore, Ballymena then Larne for the crossing to Stranraer then drive just under 100 miles through Dumfries to reach the top of M6 just above Carlisle. Then home M6 and M5 all in time for tea.

great pictures of the views of wales

i love driving the roads in wales the mother-in-law has lived there for the last 9 years and i go as often as i can, i agree the A5 from Llangollen up towards llandidno is a great road i turn off from the A5 and go down the B4407 thru Ysbyty Ifan and then onto Ffestiniog and that is a great stretch of road up in the mountain and shear drops off the side of the road and stunning views from there most of the country roads in wales can be a good drve for views and good driving

it nice to have all this on my doorstep.i live in caernarfon, and all these roads are 30mins away from me.like tommy l said, it's nice to go for a spin now and again.but the trouble is, when you go for a drive along these road, in "captain slow" mode, you are bound to come face to face with a knob 'ed in a corsa with about 3million sbot lamps on it's front, and mud flaps scraping the tarmac, playing rally driver.if you come over for a spin, enjoy the scenery, and drive safe. some of these roads can kill, and have killed!!!!
