Having resigned from my current job, and only having a matter of weeks left, it got me thinking of my new job more.

It is 22 miles away, so 44 mile round trip daily, 220 weekly.

Currently i get the works van home with me every night, & as i have no 'fixed' place of work ALL miles are classed as business miles, from the second i get into the van in the morning, till i park up at night. I also have a fuel card, so i don't pay a penny towards fuel.
So this new 44 mile round trip in my own car is certainly going to be noticeable. Whilst i ponder looking into a flat closer to the new job, & ways to take the red tint out of red diesel, it got me wondering - how far do YOU drive to work each day?

So i'll start:

Just now, 0 miles
Shortly, 44miles

Your turn.....

That's true mate - Peterhead's a fair whack!

Ironic thing is, it likely takes u about as long to drive from ur house to Peterhead as it does to drive ur house to the other side of town :p

Not quite sure why this is in the pub as I don't think even the resident pervert can drag a thread about commuting mileage into being NSFW.

Anyhoo, mileage for me depends on the route I take which in turn depends on roadworks and/or getting stuck behind slow buses, tractors, bints in micras etc. Probably between 15-20 miles each way I'd guess.

Someone shout on me? :p

You want travelling to work pulled into the gutter, you got it.....

When the wife used to travel to work (keeping with conversation... it was about 13 miles each way) she used to drive past a dogging area and once at about 7.30pm she found a couple at the roadside, her bent over the bonnet and the boy going at it hammer and tongs behind.....

Wow its just 2.1 mile for me and I let my chauffeur drive me there (along with the other folk on the bus).

Wow, one thing i have learned is that i aint gonna be as bad off as i thought....

When I was in the workshop I was about 40 miles a day, now Im about 3800 miles to get to work :D

I'm back to commuting 50-60miles cross border each day from 12-16 city miles. To be fair I'm only using a bit more fuel now than I was before. Now costing me about £150-180pm dependant on journey

I can help this dragging towards the gutter too :D

18 miles a day, each way. I work in a small town and one of the few local posties in said town loves doing his rounds with first class deliveries and a smile. well, certainly to the ladies there... he has 5 kids and another 4 allegedly on the way

He's certainly well ahead of Royal Mail package delivery targets.
