I have 500F 1969 with drive shafts measuring 17.23 mm. This seems strange as I am led to believe that they should be thicker. Where is the diameter measured mid shaft or at the spine.

Brinky,

My 500F was originally fitted with 19.5mm halfshafts. With the conversion to a 126 transmission, I replaced them with the later model 25.0mm shafts as fitted to the 500R and 500L.

I'm not sure exactly where the diameter is measured. If I can easily find my old shafts, I'll measure them for you.

Chris

PS: The shafts fitted to the 126 transmission are also 25.0mm in diameter but are too long for the 500 due to the 126s wider rear track.

Same here, 17,5mm or something. Measured in center of the driveshaft. Not sure were is the right place. I'm going to drop the gearbox here someday for service check.
