Good stuff, glad to hear you got your Uno back on the road. If I'd know that doors for 5 door were rare I might have kept the ones I had a while back.

Thanks i'm glad aswell just can't wait to get the other one on the road aswell but i've got a bit of painting to do also had to re-shim the engine i don't have any pictures so i'll put one on later on the night if i get round to it, yeah there ment to be rare as i said out of all of scotland there was only one scapyard that had a 5 door uno thats probley why fiat was wanting £300 for the door new.

i bought new doors from fiat for mine costing 80 quid each?!

but is that for mk2, mk1, 2 door or 4 door? cause i had fiat wanting £250+vat =£300 and that is ment to be trade prices

they were brand new doors from fiat bostons of milford, they were mk1 2 doors for my mk1 uno turbo.

i think the place where you went to were trying to pull your pants down and bend you over. there is no way they should cost 250+vat, for one thing the doors on a 5 door are smaller so should cost less than ones for a turbo.

£250+VAT does sound excessive, but wouldn't surprise me. I got quoted £130 from Fiat just for the mk1 roof mounted digital clock (that's only the clock itself, not including the housing!) This was back in 1998 as well.

Also, the five door Uno doors might actually cost more than the 3 door doors because the 5 door was considerably rarer. Mass production and all that, it was obviously cheaper to make 3 door doors as far more were made. Not only that but the 5 door needed 4 different factory pressings to make the doors (left/ right front and left/ right back) whereas the 3 door only needed two (left and right).

Checking out aftermarket panels suppliers, it seems that even a full door skin (up to the window) costs over £40, and that's only any good if you have a good door frame to start with.

Enough of my musings! Oldskool, do you by any chance still have the part numbers for the doors that you bought? Maybe someone could look them up on Eper and get the current listed price? If new doors could be had for £80 each then I'll seriously think about buying new ones for mine (y)

They are £250+ vat i priced them up a while ago, i think because they are old stock and have been knocking around for years, they did you a good deal (the parts dept get a bonus for the more they sell) all depends on the guy behind the counter, luckily i know the parts men at fiat caledonia and they did me 2 door skins and 2 wings for £90 cash oe parts, it seems there are still body panels about but a lot of bits are getting scarce, Ant!

never seen any part numbers on the door but at the start i was going to get a full door skin so i cut the old one off and then they said that they made a mistake and didn't have any door skins so i was buggered and when i phoned up fiat they where just as bad with the price they wanted £120+vat for the full door skin but the door i did get out the scrapys is all painted and drying so i can get it put back on soon as it's all been t-cuted and polished
