This problem relates to a 54 reg Multipla 1.9 JTD Eleganza

I hope this problem doesn't prove to be expensive but when leaving a family get together yesterday the "Door Open" warning came on and the red door warning light lit up. Of course I checked all the doors and the boot and they were all firmly shut however the warning was still there. I then checked the fuses and they were all ok.

Got the RAC out and he disconnected the battery to try and reset it the electrical system, checked the wire connections around the hinges and squirted the locks with WD40. None of that worked. Luckily the warning alarms only went off for four beeps so we got back to London without having beeps going of constantly for the whole journey.

Has anyone got any solutions that I can have a bash at before the professionals get their money grabbing mits on the car?

This happened to me and it turned out to be the boot switch which came loose so the car thought it was open.I got around it by taping the little switch closed so even if the boot is open the car still thinks it is closed. Not the best solution but the cheapest. All this happened because my wife tried to tie the boot closed because she had a bunk bed sticking out.I would look at the boot switch before doing anything else just take the cover off and you should see clearly if anything is loose.

Thanks for your replies. I'll give them both a look at. Will post a reply to let you know what occurs.

Had a look at the boot switch and nothing seemed to be out of order. I've also got a problem with the reverse sensors not working in the winter time so I think that getting a proper auto-electrician is the only path left. Hopefully they'll know exactly where to look and sort it out quickly.

Sorry I can't e of more use to you but that's FIAT's for you!!!
