Hi all! Just a little cautionary tale for you....
Went to bring my blue CLX to my new address the other day only to find that the oil light came on after a mile. Stopped at a garage to check it out and found that there was oil leaking from around the filter area. It was too late in the evening to do anything other than top up the level and finish the 75 mile trip. About a mile from home the oil light came on again! Nearly all the oil had been lost.
Next day I found that the oil filter had rusted through and all the engine oil had spread itself nicely over the underside of the car, doing a wonderful job of rust proofing it
Last time I'd changed the oil I used an own brand H*!f£rds filter which clearly wasn't up to the task, so I've now replaced it with a Bosch one.
So, my obvious advice to you all is don't buy cheap filters, even though they're full of oil all the time the thin metal they're made from can still rust through.
Just noticed the MOT is due too
