General doesn't like hills - any updates

since i replaced my fuel filter my 2.4TD is also having problems with the turbo kicking in, having to dump the clutch, get the revs -1000rpm and clutch out again for the turbo to run, i'm sure there isn't a link to the fuel filter

any update or ideas as to the cause

Same engine, same problem...

Thanks for the tip BTW - we were hiding our faces as little micras sped past on the motorway. So the old clutch trick was a life saver on our recent trip down to cornwall

[hmmm... now where's that turbo gone?... one clutch jiggle later... eat smoke baby... heh heh...]

Anyway it would be nice not to have to keep doing it all the time... it's no doubt affecting our mpg. (Anyone clocked a difference in theirs?)

We took ours to Fiat to run a check on it and they said the ECU is faulty... Apparently the missus reckons this is a common fault with this type of Bosch ECU from her surfing on the net.

Anyone found a cheap fix (ie short of a new ECU - FIAT quoted us £1200 to fit a new one...!!! )


BTW anyone know where the speedo sensor is located? The our workshop manual is pretty slim on details unfortunately (I'll have to get a good old Haynes... do they cover the 2.4TD engines in the Brava/o manual?)

im gonna try bleeding the filter or try another, cant have been a coinsidence, noticed a slight difference in mpg

Hmmm,

It's got to be a coincidence, but I changed the fuel filter recently too...

Although the one i fitted was slightly smaller than the one already on the car. The one I took off had Lancia logos written all over it and was the same height as a can of beer... The new one was a generic make and much shorter...

Is this likely to affect anything?

the one i replaced was the same in size but from the supermarket and not from main dealers, dont think there would be any difference tho

try your old one if you still have it and let us know what happends, keep saying i'll put my old one back on but I changed that one one which solved a different problem
