Me again! Had a bloke come out today to see what the prob was why my bravo wouldn't start, was told it was the immobiliser and that he'd take it away, get it re-set so it wouldnt need the codes again and would cost £210 plus vat. Thought this was too much as i only paid £250 for my car anyway. He said the place he took it too charged him £130 and the rest was his call out charge etc. If what he said was right, can i take it to any fiat dealer and get it re set so it will work again? Sorry if i seem thick on this but have only had the car 2months and don't know too much about cars anyway....thanx too people who have already helped me.

have you tried the fuel cutoff switch? its easily knocked, and free to reset!

Like Tom and Buzz said, first try the above stated, then please state what did you, if you did any work on the car, so we could narrow down the problem.

The code light doesn't go out,it stays on and the car turns over but doesnt fire up. Had bought spark plugs, oil and air filter to get them done cos know the person who i bought it from hadnt done it, only did the air filter and hadn't got round to doing anything else cos the lovely weather stopped the rest being done. The fuel cut off didnt need re setting as just been and checked that, its just total loss of power from ignition but all the fuses have been checked and are fine, the bloke who wanted to take the immobiliser away and have it reset said it was definitely that, but i think what he quoted me was a lot of money.

i had this sometimes on my old hgt i used to push the key in quite hard and then turn it...

or try a different key..

Try another key, or could be the key pickup or the CODE ECU or the main ECU.

If you got the manual booklet and the code card, read in the manual how to start the car using your code, so the key is bypassed. If you dont have the manual, but have the code card, mail me so I can send you the process on how to imput the code - dont wanna write it here.

I've only got the 1 blue key and a red key but wasn't given a code with it from the bloke i bought it from. I've since asked him if he'd got it or the manual but he hadn't got either. The AA man did this thing with my keys where he used the red key and blue key for so long in the ignition, a kind of reset thing it was i think.

I had the same problem with my Bravo, took it to my local FIAT specialist who did a diagnostic check on it, and found two 'errors' with the ECU. Problem was then easily fixed. Didn't cost the Earth, either.

Ok thanks for that, will look up my local dealer and try and get something sorted, missing not having a car!!

re

I'm not 100% sure as a while since i owned my fiat

but if you have the red key you shoudlbe able to start it with that if it was a key code problem? unless the key needs a new battery or something?

Tried starting it with the red key Allan and that didnt work either!Have got the day off tomorrow so am going to phone a few places, got to get something sorted soon, thanks anyway.
