Need help,

I've just bought a V reg Brava without the red key, and noticed the central locking doesn't work with the key. The locking however does work from the inside, if you manually press the drivers or passenger lock.

Is this because I don't have the red key? I have both blue keys.

Anyone know how I can get hold of a red key for my Brava??

Any help greatly appreciated.

Hello and welcome

Guess you live somewhere in the teesside area?

Hello Dave, Have a look at the below. I have seen this on the Bravo/a owners website.

Red Keys & Code Card One of the most important things to ask for when buying a Bravo is has the current owner have the "red key". This is the master key for the locks and ECU, and without it you can get into deep trouble if something goes wrong. You cannot easily obtain spare keys to work the central locking nor can you reprogram the ECU. The majority of owners will never have to use it but those who have needed it and haven't got it have been stung with £800 bills. If the car you are looking at doesn't have one, either walk away or knock at least £500 off the asking price.

The CODE card is also required. This was either a tag on the key ring or a credit card sized piece of card. This contains a four digit code which may be needed for the radio as well. The handbook actually states.:-

"The burgundy key plus all the other keys and CODE card must be handed over to the new owner when selling the car"

So if its a dealer DO NOT BE FOBBED OFF - point this out to them.

Sorry to bearer of bad news!

Welcome by the way!!!

Cheers Helz, yeah still cant lock the car from the outside, so leaving nowt of value inside. Do you have any suggestions? :bang:

Cheers Dave, figure I need to get a red key, found a bloke on line who can cut me one for £75, but he needs my immobiliser codebox (what's that??) Can I still drive my Brava without it, whilst this key gets cut?

Thanks for all your help, much appreciated. :D

red key wont solve this problem, its only for the immobiliser and ecu updates,

cheers Dave, I realise the red key wont solve the cl, just wanted a red clone in case I sell the car. Do you have any suggestions for the cl, could it be that I need new lock barrels?
