My Multipla 04 (53 plate) has started to sound like a WWII spitfire, and the noise seems to be coming fom the rear, nearside.

I don't think it's the wheelbearing, because it doesn't run hot; it isn't the silencer because the noise is related to the road speed, not the engine speed*: I can't see any bits of bodywork hanging loose, nor anything else for that matter.

Has anyone else ever had this problem?

* if I coast down the road with the engine at idle, the noise stays the same for any given speed.

When I say Spitfire, I mean it. It is really, really loud!

A stone or something stuck in the hub is a common source of rear end noise, often sounds terminal.Cant think of any other cause if i'ts definately coming from the back.

When i got my multi it had 205 profile tyres and they rubbed on the inside edge on the rears, a quick bend of the internal type mudguard and all was well.

Any results yet? the inner rear mudgaurd rubbing can be signs of the rear arm bearing going and allowing the wheel to kick out at the bottom and letting the top inner rub if you know what i mean.
