THIS IS VERY WEIRD BUT WHEN I START MY CAR SOMETIMES THE INDICATORS DONT SEEM TO WORK. THEN AFTER A WHILE BIZARRELY THE WORK AFTER 5 MINUTES OR SO. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND I WAS WONDERING IF ANYBODY ELSE HAS HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM OR IF ANYONE KNOWS HOW TO FIX IT.

I AM SURE THERE MUST BE A CONFUSION IN THE ELECTRONICS BECAUSE IF THE INDICATORS WORK AND I DECIDE TO USE THE FRONT FOGLIGHTS THE INDICATORS GO OFF. IT COULD ALSO BE LINKED TO THE FRONT WIPERS ASWELL.

IF ANYONE CAN HELP IT WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED.

THANKS

Same thing happened to mine. But only the left indicator. The best bet is to check the fuse box connections. That was the problem for mine.

Earth fault possibility!

On cars over 3 years old you may have an earth fault.

As the problem is at your front headlights and indicators, check earth points to the chassis in this area in the engine bay.

You may not be getting a true earth path and the two ciruits may become interconected.

At earth points:

Remove earth screw, lift up lug, clean lug and earth point at chassis with emery paper, remove rust, replace lug and screw.

Cover with a smear of vaseline.

WHERE DO I FIND THE EARTH???

HEY TOM THANKS FOR THE RESPONSE BUT CAN YOU PLESE TELL ME BY SCRATCH HOT TO SORT OUT THE EARTH'S. I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO FIND THEM UNDER THE BONNET.

To find earth returns

Folow the cable from individual elecrical units like lights back down the cable harness loom in the engine bay.

There will be locations where one or more earth wires are tied down to earth via a circular cable lug and a screw, may possibly be a nut if a large cable.

This is your main return path for elecrical circuits via your metal bodywork back to the negative on your battery and if the earth point is corroded you get a high resistance.

If you have a high resistance then your circuits start to act funny, as the electricity tries to return via the least path of resitance and creates a return down a different but adjacent circuit.

The most common earth fault in a car is the back light cluster acting funny, where brake lights also operate indicators but at half power because the two circuits are operating together as one.

Hope this helps, Tom

I WILL GIVE IT A TRY

THANKS VERY MUCH FOR THE ADVICE. I WILL TELL YOU HOW I GET ON. HOPEFULLY IT WILL WORK. I AM KINDA NEW TO MESSIN ABOUT WITH ELECTRICS SO I MIGHT MESS UP.

CAN U SHOH ME STEP BY STEP

hello,

i am having problems locating the cables in the engine bay. can u show me step by step how to do this??

thanks

OK

Not sure which model you have but a cable harness (cable loom) either comes as a bundle of cables wraped in black plastic insulating tape or within a circular flexiable plastic tube, both methods are cliped to the metalwork with plastic tiewraps or clips.

Just follow the cables from any electrical device in your engine bay and it will go into a bundle of cables in the cable harness,

What you are looking for is cables that come out from the harness and are tied down to earth with a screw or nut, these are called earth points, check out these earth points as described in above messages.

I hope that helps, Tom

Re: BRAVO

Mate can you please stop using capitals, it really is difficult to read, a bit like a childs letter in crayon.
