Hi all,
I thought I'd say hello and share my experience so far of owning a 2001 Fiat Doblo 1.9D Cargo, so hello and here we go:
I have been making use of this forum lately as a visitor and have already learned a great deal from the threads I have read. It is a great asset in my opinion and I'd have been lost so far without it, thanks
I took the Doblo in part ex on my ailing 2000 Iveco Daily 29L9 just over two weeks ago in desperation at the thought of the bills and spanner time I was going to face to keep the Iveco on the road
I usually do around a hundred to a hundred and fifty local miles a week with my job but since getting the Doblo I have driven five hundred miles in a fortnight, mainly because I can without breaking the bank due to the MPG.
I was getting between 19 and 25 MPG with the non Turbo 2.8 Daily depending on load but now enjoy 35 MPG and that is carrying a full load of tools as well as two ladders on the roofrack, plus roofing materials. I have to admit that seeing as the new van is so nippy I have been driving it like I stole it to some extent
and I reckon if I were to take it easy I could acheive 40MPG.
Now I realise that I'm supposed to be a grown up as most seem to be on this forum but I was many moons ago a Cortina boy racer and the driving pleasure of the Doblo honestly equals that of the MK2 1300 'GT' that was modded for point to point racing that I used to own nearly thirty years ago. I didn't realise a work van could be so much fun, it corners like it's on rails on the 15 inch alloys fitted with 185:55:15's and eats unsuspecting Audi TTs and Golf GTIs pulling away from the lights due to the quick changes up through the box.
Anyway, having got that off my chest I have to admit to a down side,'the mechanics'
I have more to say on that subject but will keep this intro fairly short and hope to post more later.
Regards to all for now
BR
