Technical doblo gearbox woes

Hi Guys i,m a newbee here but belong to several Saab forums and know how helpful people are! Anyway is the 1200cc doblo gearbox used in any other small Fiat? I've been told its probably the front layshaft, oil is pouring out from below the clutch and it generaly sounds like a bag of spanners in a tumbledryer!:bang: I think a cheap 2nd hand box would be the best cure. Hello and welcome to the forum Bungle!

Unfortunately I wouldn't know what else to suggest other than to get a recon or replacement gearbox from a scrapyard! I would have though it would cost you more to get it reconditioned and they may not even touch it if it's in that state!

If it's in good condition then it's not a bad deal, but shop around see if you can get anywhere cheaper. Certainly cheaper than a new box though

After phoning to say i would have the gearbox the guy phoned back to tell me he'd made a mistake and it was a diesil box! After much searching Goldseal Engines in Plaistow(may they be inflicted with boils ) phoned me to say they had one, after 4 calls and 3 e-mails i drove down to the place only to find that was a diesil box too :bang: Didn't evan get an apology.Its finally back on the road after a local gearbox rebuilt the box, it was trashed after only 46,000mls

Unfortunately the 1.2 petrol is a rare beast & any spares are going to be hard to get but it's good to hear you are now back on the road.

Sorry about the problems you had trying to get a gearbox after...

It's hard enough trying to find a 1.9JTD in a scrappy let alone a petrol!
