Hello to all,

I have a doblo 1.9D 2002 about 165000km /100000miles

A few months back I had a problem with engine suddenly stopping when warm and starting again normally after cooling a bit . It was easy, I found dozens of convergent stories on google: the RPM/crankshaft sensor. Ordered one, not too difficult to replace, solved the problem...happy

However...

Since that time the Doblo has had permanent , more or less over time, disturbing problems.

there are too problems that should probably be linked

1/ When running the engine experiences "micro cuts" , very short cuts , often barely noticed, the engine lights going on very shortly and engine restarts or continues with a litlle shock
this may happen randomly but I have noticed some patterns that are not general rules

- it happens (for the ones long enough for me to notice) more often the longer I drive. Example when I start a 4 hour drive I may not notice anything for the first hour, and nearing 4 hours drive it may happen every minute. (but sometimes it can happen after 5 minutes drive)

- It may be influenced by small shocks , shakes , on the road, pot holes, whatever, especially after longer drive when it becomes more frequent, any imperfection on the road seems to trigger it. (But most of the time I can drive rough roads , bumps , and notice nothing)

2/ When starting the engine success is random , I switch on the key, starter works, no smoke , engine won't run at all. I need to switch off the key and try again. When cold it usually takes no more than three atempts. When hot it's more like 10 to 30 atempts. In any case it can sometimes start at once and I have so far always manage to restart before the battery is dead.

I had ordered a FAE sensor, first thing I do since it was not expensive, I bought a new sensor, which was a Bosch. But things remained the same

The sensor is always oily when I check it , but cleaning has not much effect

I read that the connector may be faulty , so I removed it and welded and encased the connector wires , but it's no difference

then I checked errors and cleared all because there were many apparently old ones.

After a one hour drive round trip yesterday , I checked errors again (MES, doblo 1.9DS) , and got more confused since I could read :

P0252 Rotor position check - signal high
"The reason for this fault is that ECU has received very high signal from the sensor. The fault is not detected now, but it is stored in memory. Clear fault codes, and observe for future appearance of the same fault. Dashboard warning light was activated for this fault. "

So I understand the problem is right with the RPM/crankshaft sensor but I have no clue

During the drive I never noticed the activated lights or some shock (with experience i detect better and look quickly , anyway,I could have missed the event(s) )
But I stopped three times for errands and had trouble restarting every time

So If anyone could give me any Idea or point out something , I'd greatly appreciate. And what could make a sensor signal "too high" , provided the error message is OK

thanks for any help

Yes , actually ordered two , from different well known online sellers, one of them was Oscaro with a bosch sensor and the other was a FAE sensor from another one I forgot the name. Both sensor fixed the initial problem completely , and the car is running OK with one of them by now most of the time.

I am puzzled because I do not see any error for the randomly sucessful starting session, seems like something switched off from the start : turn the key then either starts quickly or never starts at all however long you run the starter.

I had more than a dozen of failed starts between error checks , and not a code recorded

I have only a permanent error with the glow plugs (pre heat light flashing after start up), but I don't see why this should be linked
the problem is more prevalent when engines warm and I could check I have at least 2 working plugs (unfortunately the dead one (or two ) are the most difficult.

I come to the idea this might not be related to the sensor change , but hell , it happened right after the change..

I ordered a fuel filter today , to start with , not much hope with that , but it's not this expensive and the filter may be a bit old, maybe fiddle with the injection pump connector , read in other threads it can be faulty. but a injection pump connector problem would yield an error code , would'nt it ?

Hi guys! I having also Doblo 1.9d,and when its warm, cuts out,can you tell me where ist that crankshaft sensor,i dont see it??

Hello

I remember I had found a nice detailed tutorial but seems I don't find it again !

Look for keywords doblo and
rpm/crank/crankshaft sensor

Or maybe it was french
capteur pmh/tours

It s under the engine a black wired sensor near the starter , follow wire to connector which is the trickiest to remove, and replace sensor
