Re: Do you apporve of mod chip sellers

We as motorists would like to see other motorists on the road so why should he jeopardise this?

Can you advertise them for Citroen/Peugeot/Renault only? LOL Sorry Paulie (jk!)

Its a complete con... a) its not a chip, and b)it will make the engine probably run a little rich thus costing you more. I don't know what the longer term effects are, and nor do the people who sell them. As for the volume know style ones... don't even get me started, have you ever seen somebody in a tuned car, go... hmmm I think I need a lot of boost, let me just notch up me variable resistor to 10????? There should be some sort of regulation of the accessories market to ensure things like this don't get into the market, I doubt much research and development has gone into these 'mods'.

STOP SELLING THEM UNO94... Ever heard the phrase money for old rope?

A genuine performance CHIP is normally ok, especially if it comes from a reputable tuning company. But these crappy resistors and bits of wire are just plain rubbish.

With resistors, we're talking about ONE part of the engine management system being changed, unlike a genuine chip which remaps the WHOLE management system.

All the resistors tend to do is make the mixture run rich, which can give a bit of a boost in acceleration. The downside is that fuel consumption increases, and over a long period of time 'bore wash' will occur (unburnt petrol washing off oil in the cylinder bores). This will eventually lead to premature wear of the cylinders and pistons, and don't forget that unburnt fuel will cause problems with a catalytic converter too.

Most importantly, DON'T BUY ONE. If no one buys them then the Chavvy sellers can't sell them.

If you really want to buy junk to improve your cars performance then buy the old rope! :p
