so basically i got a new TV licence wanting a full year so I am now arguing the toss with them. My argument is i was not informed that it would start at the beginning of the year.
also is it covered under distance sellers regs?
so this is how far I am so far first message below is unsent. till i see if you have any better ideas.
can you please send me a link to the terms and conditions so I can formulate an argument along the lines of the fact I was sold a year.
not 11 months and 4 days approx. because im sure under the sales of goods act this is misrepresentation or something similar.
for example car tax its clearly stated when the tax disk will start BEFORE paying

> As advised previously Television licences are issued subject to terms and conditions laid down by the Licensing Authority. New licences are always dated to expire twelve months from the first day of the month in which they were bought. When renewed, the original expiry date is retained. This can mean that the first licence may run for less than twelve months.

To operate a system of 365 possible expiry dates would be very costly in terms of administration and enforcement. By keeping the system as simple as possible, administration costs are kept to a minimum and have little effect on the level of the licence fee.
