Hi guys, I've been looking around for a upgrade from my MK2 and came across the GP T-jet.

I test drove one yesterday and loved it.

What i want to know is why are some interios carbon fibre and others silverish? are they economical? i would want to remap it, put a exhaust on it and a induction kit, what are the results/drive like after this?

Basically, would i be doing a good thing by buying one. The other option is a C2 VTS HDI but i really cant decide!

HELP!

The silverish ones are s1 grande sporting pre 58 plate, s2 has carbon fibre, post 58 plate. :)

Well....that's what my first sporting(s1) was compared to my second sporting(s2). ;)

Missus sporting is also s1, she has the silverish interior too. :)

Okay thanks for that mate. I think the T-jets have plenty of things that you can do to them. I really am starting to like the sound of the t-jet

You asked about economy, most people seem to average mid to high thirtys mpg only getting over 40 on a long gentle run. The short gearing means motorway economy isn't fantastic.

Also, before you re-map, you'll want to invest in a vl36 or vl38 turbo from an abarth punto or 500. The standard vl37 on the t-jet is tiny and runs out of puff at the top end. Budget around £300 for the turbo swap and expect about 160+bhp after the re-map.

So would it be a case of having the new turbo, an exhaust and a induction kit before a remap?

Yes, if you are going to change the turbo this must be done before the remap.

Whoah slow down there kiddo, you were worried about insurance on an M-Jet. I guarantee a T-Jet with a bigger turbo and a remap will cost more to insure than a standard M-Jet. I know I'd rather have the M-Jet.
What with a gearbox made of cheese? We all know that even standard the t-jet is far superior to the m-jet :p.

The insurance point is a good one.

Re-mapping with the standard turbo isn't the done thing, as I said it runs out of puff at the top end. I think the standard turbo is limited to about 140bhp.

The m-jet is a hell of a lot easier to tune my friend, I can get more than that with just a tuning box and standard turbo :p

But it sounds like a tractor, needs a gearbox rebuild every ten minutes and carries an extra 100kg over the front wheels. :-D

you will find the insurance on the mjet will be cheaper than the tjet even after tuning modifications. my Mjet was cheaper to insure over my 1.2 8v :S

as for the gearbox, following on what dazzerd said, the gearbox is 'only like cheese' because people have being flooring it in 6th to get speed. 6th is a synthetic gear and has been put there for 'cruising' hence why people have so many problems because they don't realise this! use the gearbox as normal and use 6th on the motorway theres no need for it at low speeds. if you want need to put your footdown use 5th! if you go by these rules your gearbox will be fine!

any way back on topic as there is many mjet gearbox threads haha.

whats the tjet like you've seen? what colour is it? any optional extras?

The t-jet I've seen and driven is black 08 plate with 47000 miles on the clock. Leather seats, sunroof and otherwise it's a normal t-jet.
