I had a thought.

If you had a PC in the boot (a carputer in otherwords) and you also had a sound-system, with say, some subs. Would the subs damage the HDD from the vibration?

This is obviously dependant on how much power the subs can give out, but I'm pretty adament that even a smallish sub would quite easily damage a hard drive.

Any input on the above?

Also there is the magnetic field factor to consider....

Hmm, well I would severely advise against it. HDDs are dead sentitive bits of kit, with a little pin pointed between to uber-magnets, if the pin slips, the HDD is instantly rendered useless and corrupt, it will make the lovely "tickticktick" noises. Vibration isn't too much of an issue so long as its not too aggressive, but if something were to roll into the PC or into the HDD where ever it is caddied, then it will be fhoooked.

Leeroy, I know how a HDD works.

I think I've managed to bugger one with my subs. Hm..

You didn't answer my other question about website designs?
