Hi all, currently reassembling my fiat 850 berlina 1968 engine. Just want to know are there any shims between the distributor drive and oil pump body. Shouldn't there be one to prevent the oil pump body from wearing out since it's aluminium? Pic below.. plse advice thanks

Don't know if this will help, it is from the larger Fiat 131 1300 engine around 1975.
If it is a dog type drive then there shouldn't be too much thrust on the pump, it is more where a gear turns and pushes a shaft that thrust washers are needed, however on some engines a seal is required to stop oil running up in to the distributor.
