I'm wanting to recondition and paint my brake calipers on my bravo but i can't take them off because i need to use the car. Is it possible to recondition the calipers and paint them without taking them off the car?
OR is it a better idea to buy some calipers / drums from a scrappy to recondition and paint those and then swap them for the ones on my car?

Cheers,

Ed

Ed, you can do it easily on the car mate.

Best thing to do is to take them off, remove the pads and disc then refit and then its a hell of alot easier to clean and paint, then once dry refit the pads and disc :)

as above, you can whip em off, give a really thorough clean, then paint, and have em back on in a day. if you try to paint without cleaning properly, it'll really show that you've just botched it.

I left mine on with the 1.2 and HGT when painting. Just removed the pads and masked everywhere that I didnt want paint to drip.

As long as you clean them up (wire brush then dremmel sorted mine) then get them painted it should be fine.

Drums - Please dont do them anything other than black! :) I did mine red on the old 1.2 and basically shouted look at my small powered car. Dont really want to bring attention to drums, just keep em tidy without the rusty look.

Thanks for the advice guys, and for the tip about the black drums! I hadn't really thought about that.
