Has anyone out there any experience of aquiring and/or changing a rear suspension subframe?

Is the Bravo/a subframe the same as the Tipo?

The steel turrets (on which my rubber bump stops and coils springs mount) are rotten and this looks like a tricky welding job if at all. An internet search doesn't reveal any pattern parts either...

Right...

Still available... :D But £350....:(

Plus fitting ££££££.

Looks like the fuel tank and lots of rusty bolts have to come out....

Just when I thought the renovation was complete....

All the subframes for the fwd based tipo cars are the same the only differences are the rubber bush design was slightly changes and the trailing arms are different widths, go to breakers and get any subframe coupe etc and swap your arms onto it. Note its heavy maybe 50kgs. Removing the anti roll bar bolts can result in sheared off bolts - heat massively with a blow lamp first. If you get a wider rear subframe complete say from the coupe you may want to fit the whole thing as it has thicker ARB - it may just catch the arches on full bump.

Just wanting to confirm the 'trailing arms being different widths' part of your post.

So A and B are the same on all tipo based models?

Pivot width being B, track being A. Didn't explain very clearly in words :)

I have found a bravo one for £40. From the thread I am kind of assuming (and hoping?) it will fit?

Are the bushing differences mentioned significant - do I have to buy other bits to match?

It will be fine - only heavy and rusty.

Dont change it alone, you'll squash yourselft - if you have to use 2 trolley jacks to roll it in and get it roughly in place.

Looks like I missed this one my father-in-law replaced the subframe on his Tempra with one from a Bravo, yep they're the same. I wonder if they're the same on the Alfa 156, that's a Tipo based car.......?

156 had double wish bones, I think the tank and a number of other things are quite different. Have to really have a look to know. GTV suspension will fit but not straight forward.
