Is there any way to turn off traction control in the Fiat 500X Cross?

Would this be something that could be modified into it?

Do you mean traction or stability control?

Depending on model then Traction control is controlled by the Mood Mode driving knob on earlier versions (2015).

Stability Control can in theory not be turned off by using normal car controls. In Sport Mode the level at which stability control is activated is well up at the top end of the performance limits.

If you are referring to a 4x4 model then I'm not sure the 4x4 function can be turned off.

There are people here on the forum with the 4x4 model so hopefully they can chip in.

This is what the technical info states:

DRIVE SYSTEMS 4×4 AND REAR AXLE DISCONNECTION SYSTEM The new Fiat 500X is available in both a two-wheel-drive and four-wheel drive configuration. A particular feature of the new Fiat crossover’s four-wheel drive is the adoption of the rear wheel disconnection system. This allows energy wasted due to drag to be reduced when four-wheel-drive operation is not required, thus ensuring greater fuel economy. The only vehicle in the segment to offer it, together with the Jeep Renegade, rear axle disconnection permits smooth transition from two-wheel drive to four-wheel drive and thus correct distribution of the torque between the two axles without intervention by the driver.

DRIVING MODE SELECTOR (MOOD SELECTOR) The Mood Selector is a device that allows the driver to select three different driving modes according to their needs and to the road and traffic conditions, by manually adjusting the central tunnel knob ring nut (Fig. 4). The device, through the on-board electronic system, operates on the vehicle's dynamic control systems: engine, steering, ESC system, 4x4 system (if available) and gearbox/transmission, and is interfaced with the instrument panel. The rotating ring nut is monostable type. In other words, it always returns to the central position when released. The acceptance by the system of the requested driving mode is signalled by the LED, located besides the symbol, coming on, and by the corresponding symbol appearing on the instrument panel display. When the engine is started the system normally stays in the driving mode that was active before switching off; for versions/markets where provided the system always sets itself to Auto mode at start-up.

AUTO MODE This mode aims for comfort and safety in normal grip and driving conditions. On 4x4 versions, this mode also reduces fuel consumption, since it automatically disconnects the transmission from the rear wheels if the road and driving conditions allow it, in addition to changing drive torque distribution between the front and rear axles.

ALL WEATHER AND TRACTION MODES All Weather mode aims for safety in poor vehicle grip conditions (wet/slippery road surface, rain, snow). On trim levels more suitable for leisure, All Weather mode is replaced by the “Traction” function, which, on four-wheel drive versions, makes torque transmission to the rear axle more responsive. On front-wheel drive versions on the other hand, it activates the Traction Plus control system, which increases the vehicle’s traction on challenging terrain with poor grip.

SPORT MODE This mode emphasises the pleasure of sports driving; it increases fuel consumption however. Traction is optimised on 4x4 versions, allowing the vehicle road-hold performance to be improved, even on bends.
