Can anyone recommend a suitable cleaner for my cream coloured steering wheel. Its beginning to look a little discoloured now after 4yrs of use.

I know I could use a damp cloth with some fairy liquid on it to try and clean it, but there may be something out there that does the job better. 59plate Pop. Cheers. :)

We got our car back from the dealer, after some warranty work, in a shocking state. When I complained they said they would valet it, told them to sod off. Anyway, the white steering wheel was manky. Oil and filth. Used a couple of large multi-surface wet wipes, and now the wheel is cleaner than it has been since it left the factory. These were very wet and got into all the wee grainy bits in the leather. I would imagine baby bum wipes would do the same job.
Got the oil off the seats and door cards using some white spirit and then 1001 carpet cleaner.

You can get leather wipes from halfords, but the Boots face wipes or a pack from the local 99p work just as well - also do the gear & gaiter and behind the ears.

If you'd like an automotive-type product to try, I can recommend Mother's Leather Cleaner (NOT Mother's Leather Conditioner) as the cleaner leaves a softened, matt surface for best grip. Many leather conditioners leave a shine which would be dangerous on a steering wheel.

There was a discussion once about whether the steering wheel was covered in genuine leather (a 'vegetablist' needed to know :)) and the conclusion was that it was.

I have gone for the baby wipes idea, and its done a great job, for the princely sum of 99p. Only one thing though, the interior smells of strawberries now.:D:D
